Emergency Dentistry for Greeley
When a dental emergency strikes, you want to know quickly who you can turn to for help. That’s why we’ve made emergency dentistry an important part of our site and our practice. We want to provide our Greeley patients with timely service for their dental needs.
Some of the most common dental emergencies include:
Knocked Out Tooth
If you’ve lost one of your permanent teeth, your first step—after calling us—should be to rinse it gently with water to remove debris. Then, if you can, hold the tooth back in the socket it came from. Sometimes this isn’t possible, though. If it’s not, store the tooth in a baggie of milk or water. We’ll see you as quickly as we can to determine if reattachment is feasible.
If you have fractured a tooth, rinse your mouth and apply a cold compress to the affected area. Keeping the compress in place will control swelling until Dr. Forney can see you.
Temporary Crown Falls Out
Your temporary crown can be provisionally reattached using just a little bit of toothpaste or denture adhesive. But remember that these are only temporary solutions to your emergency. After reattaching your temporary, call our Greeley office to schedule a time for reattachment.
If you have a toothache, try flossing around the tooth and rinsing your mouth to see if you can remove any debris. If there’s no debris causing your pain, schedule a time to come into our office. You can control your discomfort with an over-the-counter medication, but avoid putting an aspirin directly on the tooth as this can damage your sensitive gum tissue.
Are you experiencing any of these emergencies or another one we haven’t listed? Call our Greeley office right away to notify us.
